India De velopment Service (IDS), in partnership with local NGOs, has decided to launch a Save-A-Mother program. IDS has always believed that women's health and well-being is fundamental to bring poor families out of poverty. After having successfully demonstrated women's empowerment by supporting many micro-credit projects, IDS has now embarked upon the Save-A-Mother pilot program. We are proud to have already trained 36 women from 20 villages as health activists, who will follow each pregnant woman in these villages to ensure she delivers safely by also providing antenatal care and institutional delivery. We hope to expand the program to other villages and provide aid to as many mothers as possible
To honor the privileged and not-so-privileged mothers around the world, IDS would like to invite you with your mother and family to a Mother's Day Banquet on May 11th, at 5:00 PM at Waterford Banquet Hall, 933 S. Riverside Drive, Elmhurst, Illinois, 60126. Tickets will be $50.00/person and $25.00/child under 7. This includes a buffet dinner catered from India House. Proceeds of the event will go towards the Save-A-Mother program.
We also encourage you to take this opportunity to honor your mother during the Mother's Day Banquet. If you would like to pay tribute to you mother in written or verbal form, please let us know. We hope to memorialize your wishes on Mother's Day in a booklet honoring our mothers which will be given out that evening.
Remember, one avoidable death is one too many. We urge you to save a mother, and together we can save a million mothers.
